Suggestion for a day-trip: Head to Corchia, Berceto (but beware the winding road!) for a fantastic pizza and a hike. It's a beautiful old hamlet lost in the Appenine Mountains.
Just make sure to reserve your table in advance: they're always booked in the nice weather!
