Happy birthday, Mr Verdi!
2013 will see the celebration of the bicentenary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi, Italy's most famous composer.
Three operas will be staged at the Teatro Regio: Un Ballo in Maschera (January) and Nabucco (March).
It's also the bicentenary of Richard Wagner's birth: Parsifal will be staged in March.
Subscriptions for the three shows will be on sale on 15th December (renewals) or 29th December (new subscriptions). Tickets for a single show will be on sale on 3rd January.
It's highly advised to buy subscriptions or tickets as soon as available.
The Scala in Milan is also celebrating Verdi with seven operas from Falstaff in January to Aida in November.
Did you know that it's possible to do a (very interesting) guided tour of the Teatro Regio? Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-1 pm and 3 pm-6 pm.
